High School Softball and Baseball playoffs are underway. Today is another big day on the schedule as many local teams will be taking to the diamond in hopes of advancing to the next game. For some that will end in joy, for others sadness as the season winds to a close.
As we were thinking about all of the hard work you have put into this season, something popped into our heads. The importance of looking back. See, it's not just this season that you are playing for today. It's all of the hours of learning how to throw and catch a ball. It's that patience you needed as you learned how to steady yourself to hit the ball off the tee for the very first time.
So as you look forward to your games, remember this:
Take a moment, pause, and look back at how far you've come.
That way, the full measure of joy you deserve will be in full view today, win or lose.
Win and move on. That's very exciting.
Lose and the season ends. That's hard.
But...if you allow yourself to look back at all of your hard work, progress, and relationships built, you'll see that it's prepared you so very well for what's coming next.
Play ball.
Have fun.
And if your team doesn't advance today?
We can't win every game we play, but we can learn from every moment along the way.
